![]() Mr. Ping Goes for A Walk On January 29th Mr. Ping turned 20 years old. Though he began showing the signs of kidney failure at 15, he refuses to go anywhere. As his custodian, I had to learn a lot in these few years to adjust to his illness and search for the best information that would enablle me to fullfill Ping's wish to stay a while longer. I have read on many websites and heard from several vets that his life expectancy should be only 2 years from the time his symptoms became evident. But that was 5 years ago.. Though he has lost a lot of weight ,I kept my mind open to new information and alternative sources. I listened to my inuition and to Ping about what might work better and feel better to him. We've stayed away from invasive and unneccessary procedures, and I made sure, everday, to indulge Ping's great love of food, affection and conversation.
Now, we take walks in the hallway at the apartment complex where we live. It's exciting for him. He walks, purring, very slowly down the hallway next to me. He wobbles and occasionally falls when he looks up to catch my eye... It's a mystery when Mr. Ping's last day will be. He is still here and we are both still very happy. |
